Borrowed dreams
Sadly, children dream through their parents’ eyes,
Chasing shadows dressed as sunrise.
They try so hard to prove them true,
Yet the burden feels heavier than they ever knew.
Carrying those dreams bends their shoulders low,
Calling them their own makes the burden grow.
If it was hard for parents, it is harder for their child,
Forced into a race they never styled.
A trophy to show, a name to display,
Yet their own dreams are somewhere brushed away.
